Electric Fence Insulators and What They're Used For
If you're looking to install an electric current on your metal fence in order to contain livestock on your farm, you should consider investing in these livestock fence insulators. Here at Chain Link Fittings, we offer a wide variety of agricultural fence fittings, and these corral panel insulators are a popular choice amongst farm owners.
Why Install an Electric Fence?
A lot of farmers choose to use electric fencing as a humane and secure method to manage their animals, protect crops from predators, and even control patterns of grazing. Electric fences are designed to shock animals or humans if they attempt to cross the boundary. Often, the way they work starts with a power energizer that sends an electrical pulse along a bare wire that runs down the fence line. When someone comes in contact with it, they will feel the electric pulse, preventing them from entering or exiting the unwanted area.
Using an electric fence eliminates the need for restraining animals at all times, and it also works as a way to keep predatory animals out. The brief electric shock is typically enough to allow the animal to learn to respect the electric fence. Meaning they will not approach it once they are aware of the consequences of coming in contact with it.
What is an Insulator and Why is it Necessary?
These pasture electric fence accessories are designed to hold and isolate the electrical fencing wire from the steel fence posts. They are necessary because they prevent the electrical current from entering the metal fence. Without the insulator, the electric fence wire would hang freely and pose a risk of moving out of place and potentially leaning into the metal fence, creating an unsafe electrical system.
Amongst the farm perimeter fence hardware that we offer, there are different insulators available for different fence applications, including T-Post Insulators, V-Bolt Insulators, and Snap-On U-Post Insulators.
T-Post Insulators
These insulators are designed to be used with standard T-Posts, whether they be corners, ends, or in-line posts. They have 360 degrees mounting and can be installed in 6 different positions for maximum versatility.

Snap-On U-Post Insulators
The Snap-On insulators are capable of clamping onto the mesh of chain link fabric or fences that use U-Posts. They easily snap onto various mesh sizes and hold the wire successfully away from the posts or fabric.
